I grew up in So CA with 5 older brothers who all worked on their cars talking about engines and transmissions, big blocks and manual transmissions. I listened and learned as I handed them tools and held the brake pedal down as they bled the brakes. By the time I could drive I knew my dream car was a Corvette big block with 4 on the floor. At 19 in Feb 1972 I finally had a good enough job to afford payments and started looking. I was seeking a 1969 but found this beautiful custom modified 1970 454 4 speed with t-tops, custom bumpers, flared wheel wells and a custom paint job like none other I’d ever seen! Drove it… had to have it!! OMG did that car and I have fun…, No one believed me that it was my car, everyone thought it was my boyfriends car cuz not a lot of girls had a muscle car! I right away decided not to drive it every day so still drove my second car to work each day but on the weekends and cruz nights we were out and about! Moved from Seattle to California then to Alaska for my career and of course it went with me everywhere and finally went back to So CA. By then I’d had it repainted and began entering it in car shows and in 1985 it took the Best in its class “ Modified Class” at The World of Wheels Car Show in Seattle, WA. Now, about this time I was a member of a Corvette Club that participated in many community events and one Halloween our club was helping with a safe Halloween event and we were all dressed in costume. I feel into an opportunity that changed my life and my Vette…we began having the privilege of making many kids happy as a persona known as “Barbie and her Corvette”….What fun we had and many wonderful memories. We’ve been together over 52 years now! My dream car still puts a big smile on my face!
