It started for me in the 60’s when I was eleven years old. My Dad had a buddy that had a 1963 split window white Corvette. He would come by and upon leaving he would talk through his PA system ( which I was geeked about) and say Hey Henry (my dad’s name). He would be banging through the gears! I instantly fell in love with the car, my dad bought me a green stingray bike with the 5 speed gear shift but it didn’t quench my desire, I built numerous plastic models and it did not do it either.
Fast forward a few years , we now living in St. Anne, Illinois, my cousin comes out driving a 1984 C4 blue Corvette. He threw me the keys and says “take her for a spin” I can’t believe this is happening to me, I cruise around town savoring every moment. I said to myself upon returning, I’ve got to get me one of these”. Fast forward to marriage, kids and a mortgage, I didn’t see the dream. Then blessings started to happen, I started a new career and bigger salary, I bought my first Corvette , a 1977 Corvette coupe! Pearl white paint job , baby I’m in there now. I later purchased a second Corvette, a 1993 triple black 6- speed manual. I can’t believe it. I later had to sell both due to divorce, she never shared my passion for Corvettes. My daughters did though and still do, we would go to rallies, cruises, shows etc.., Later after getting my life back on track, I had the opportunity to buy a 1990 white/tan Corvette convertible 6 speed but she needed a little TLC which I gave her. I still own her.
I later purchased a 2016 triple black C7 and I still own her. I then bought a 2011 Grand Sport 6 speed manual Convertible. I then traded the Grand Sport for a 2024 C8 in rapid blue. She is the ultimate machine! I just turned 500 miles on the odometer. God has truly blessed my dream of owning several corvettes. I have been to numerous cruise nights, rallies, shows etc.., The one event I just love and has been attending every year (except Covid ) I would like to include Mike Yager, family and work team for hosting and putting on a good time each year. Mid America Motorworks is and always have been my go to parts and accessories store. I have met so many people and made a few good friends along the was while attending Funfest! I have a new grandson and I plan on passing him the torch. His name is Wayne IV and he is soon to be two years old but he loves standing in the seat and whipping the steering wheel. This is my story!
