It was a Sunday night in September 1962 and CBS was still in summer reruns so my family watched the Bonanza season premiere. At the beginning of the broadcast it was announced that the western would be shown without commercial interruption so that Chevy could show a short film of their 1963 models at the end of the program. We stayed tuned and there at the end of the film in glorious black and white was the corvette split window coupe. To this 9 year old the back looked like the front of a Gemini space capsule. Shorty after The Beach Boys released an album Shut Down volume II. It was everywhere with a silver blue corvette on the cover! I owned 63, 64, 65 and 66 but only in 1/25 scale thanks to the good folks at AMT. My first real corvette was an 87 purchased in August of that year followed by an 03 ( my 50th also) in November 02 and a 23 ( you got it my 70 too) in May 2023. All blue and each better than the previous and each with its own special memories. By the way the Shut Down volume II hangs in my man cave.
