"What Do You Want Your First Corvette To Be?"

#3 Top Viewed: 1418
My dad has been restoring cars since before I was born. I haven't seen a day in my life where he didn't have a fun project going on. I was introduced to cars and car shows from day 1. When I was about 12 years old, we drove by a local car lot almost every day. And in that car lot was a beautiful blue C5 Corvette. I eyed that car for months. One day, my dad asked me what I wanted my first car to be. I very excitedly told him that I wanted that blue Corvette, hoping that he would go get it for me. Well, anyone that knows my dad knows that he did not rush over there and buy that car but showed me cars that I could save up for and buy on my own. We ended up finding a black C4 in the Chicago area. It had been on fire and had alot of work that it needed. Dad assured me that he would help me and teach me how to fix it and it could easily be the car that I wanted. I went ahead and spent all of my savings to buy this car that came with many boxes of pieces. Over the next 3 years, my dad and I worked on that car. Scraping up recycled parts left and right. Some days were great and some days I desperately wanted to give up. But he kept assuring me that this car would be running soon as long as I put the work into it. One day, we turned the key and to my surprise it started. That was the day I finally knew that I was going to be driving that car. I'll never forget the way it felt to get that car on the road for the first time. Fast forward about 15 years and alot of work along the way, I'm still driving my first car. My beautiful black C4 Corvette. My Barbie car that I wouldn't trade for the world.
