The Johnson Story

My name is Charles and I am very proud to be part of a Corvette family. I am blessed with a great wife and two awesome sons. My wife, Karen, just recently purchased a 2004 black Corvette, my oldest son Chuck owns a 2003 electron blue Z06, my youngest son Jeremy, currently owns a 1998 torch red Corvette and I own a 1998 sebring silver Corvette. In addition to that, my sister-in-law, Marilyn and her husband Larry also own two 1984 Corvettes and frequently spend “Corvette family time” with us. As a young man, my close friend’s dad had a 1960 Corvette that I truly admired. I knew that one day I would own one. Years later, I made my purchase on a great deal that I couldn’t pass up.

My first Corvette was a bright orange 1973 L-48 Corvette, and even to this day it is the most special of all the 12 Vettes that we have owned. I recall many weekend nights when my wife and young sons squeezed into that Corvette with me and cruise around town. Today, we continue to share our Corvette passion, just not in the same Corvette! Owning one Corvette is a great achievement, but for each of us to have our own Corvette is a dream come true. We each remember the day we drove off the local Corvette dealer’s parking lot with our very own Corvette and a lot of excitement. We also enjoy working on and modifying our Corvettes together. We added Billy Boat Bullet exhausts to three of our Corvettes (631-001) and the Borla Stinger Quad Round tip Exhaust (612-429) to Karen’s Corvette. I have C5 Z06 Motorsport Wheels (614-901) on my 98 Corvette. And, in addition to lowering three of our Corvettes (602-716), we also had a custom airbrush trunk liner added to Chuck’s Z06 Corvette. Of course, purchasing owner’s manuals has helped guide us through several of our projects.

As a multiple Corvette family, we have multiple Corvette needs. We chose Mid America Motorworks because they offered a wide variety of parts and accessories for all of our Corvette generations. Today, we continue to purchase from Mid America Motorworks because of their great customer service, fast shipping, reasonable prices and awesome products! We attended our first Corvette Funfest in 2007 and continue to go each year. My son, Chuck, was a 2009 Celebrity Choice winner. While that wasn’t our first award that we won, it was one of the biggest honors because of the magnitude of the event and what it means to the Corvette community and its enthusiasts.

Chuck also submitted a brief story and images of our Corvettes to Corvette Fever. We were published in the March 2010 issue. We also were published in the June 2010 Vette issue. Lastly, we were contacted after becoming a fan on Facebook to submit our story for Mid America Motorworks’ ad. 2010 certainly is a Corvette milestone year for us! There are many Corvette years and modification projects ahead of us. We will always own the greatest sports car in the world, and might even add a ZR1 to the family.
