I was five or six years old. My brother was 12. He had a Matchbox toy Corvette I loved… and he would NOT let me play with it. Mean, bad brother… I managed to steal it from him a few times, only to incur his wrath. Oh well. Fast forward 15 years, a move to the US from another country and the discovery that the beautiful car I still dreamed of was REAL! Woo-hoo! After a lengthy search I found “Charlie”. Yep, Charlie was named after, you guessed, my brother! I sent him a picture the same day I brought the car home, he was impressed! I loved the car the minute I saw it. 1969 Stingray, convertible, both tops, Lemans Blue, 85,000 miles. Now, 45 years later, 350,000 additional miles, one rebuild on the original engine, two paint jobs and an “I lost count” on the fun rides, I still have Charlie. My goal is to make it to half a million miles… it may happen. I don’t feel like an old lady when I’m driving it! Don’t panic. The attached photo with the horse was taken the day before Charlie had his second paint job…
