The story of my first Corvette, a 2015 Z06, starts with a trip with my wife to the Botanic Gardens in Naples, Florida. This is an area that has lots of fun cars including Corvettes of all kinds. She is not a car person so every time I would see a Corvette, I pointed it out to her. This happened so many times she said do you want to get one. I just responded It would be nice, but I don’t know. On the way home we saw lots more and when we got to the house, she said I know you want to get one so go ahead. She did not know that back in Wyoming I had been talking to the local dealer about it and had told them that I would only buy one if it was a Z06. I just said to call if they got an allocation, which they replied they did not think that would happen, they were too small of a dealership. When we pulled up to the house, we could hear the phone ringing but could not get to the phone in time. My wife played the answering machine back and it was the dealer asking me to call about ordering the Corvette! She turned to me and asked how I did that. This was a Friday night but there was a 2-hour time difference so I called. They said they got an allocation and if I wanted to make the order, I needed to be there Monday. This worked for me because I had a Sunday flight. When I got off the phone we just laughed at the coincidence of the day. She just said that if I wanted the car, I had to shave my full beard and mustache, of course I said yes. I did make it to the dealership on time and got to order it the way I wanted. It was spring before I took delivery with large snow storm a few days before delivery. The day it arrived I had a friend take me to the dealership to pick it up and we drove up the mountains for its first outing. We pulled off the interstate and started to drive down a secondary road. It was a beautiful day with bright sun and we pulled over beside a large pile of snow. This is where the first picture was taken. From there it was home to shave and start driving to Florida without a beard.
